Sid Dennis was the youngest son of Dave and Martha Dennis and lived with his parents until he married.
He met and married Viola Wright about 1916. They were parents of ten children, seven daughters and three sons.
When they first got married, they lived on a farm near his wife's brother, Felix Wright and his wife, Nannie Mae Wright. They were farmers, raising cattle and other farm animals. They had a good relationship. They loved hunting, horseback riding, and fishing.
About 1920, his father passed away, Grandpa Dave. Grandma Martha asked Sid to move back to the home place and live with her. He lived on the family home place with Grandma Martha and his family and continued to farm.
Grandma Martha was a strong and dedicated person. She would tell us all about the hardships she had to endure growing up. She was a devout Christian. She raised her children to follow her leadership.
Papa Sid was very devoted to his family. He would carry his children to church, Sunday School all the activities that was held at the church, New Zion Methodist Church. He was trustee and steward with many other obligations in the church. He worked hard trying to raise all of his children and to teach them to lead good Christian lives.
After Grandma Martha passed away in the 1930's, he continued to live on the family homestead. There was about 175 acres. He raised a vegetable garden. He loved to give and share with his friends. He helped people when and wherever they were and whatever their condition.
Along with Grandma Martha, he shared a lot of history, a wealth of love and strong Christian principles with his children.
He and Viola were hard working Christians. They loved sharing with their family at all times. Viola passed away in 1974. Sid missed her so much. The children went to see him everyday. Sid passed away in 1985. The homestead is till in the family. God was God to all of us. We are thankful to have had such a rich history in the Dennis Family.
