RE: Support for the Galveston-Trivandrum Sister City Society
Dear President Bush:
I would like to join the Galveston-Trivandrum Sister Society in asking you to consider adding a visit to Trivandrum, the Capital of Kerala and the sister city of Galveston, Texas to the itinerary of your 2006 India tour.
As you are aware, your visit to Trivandrum would bring welcome attention and world focus to this capital city. In addition, such attention could encourage job opportunities and economic development by American businesses throughout the region. As you have so clearly shown around the world, where the free market place is allowed to thrive, so does freedom and democracy.
The Galveston-Trivandrum Sister City Society also asked me to pass along their appreciation for your recognition of Indian democracy through your gubernatorial proclamation presented to them during Galveston Mardi Gras 1994. Your resolution called on all Texans to observe US/India friendship week with Indian cultural celebrations supporting diversity, freedom, and democracy.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter. Please contact Rajan Koshy @ 409/762-5621 if you need additional information.
Sincerely,
JERRY PATTERSON
Commissioner, General Land Office
