Galveston-Trivandrum Sister City society presented checks totaling $7370 to the Deputy Consul General Ramji Koli on Friday, February 18, 2005. The fund is collected from residents of Galveston (Sister city of Trivandrum since 1994) to aid in the rehabilitation of the Tsunami victims of Kerala, India. It clearly shows the values and generosity of the American people and their willingness to give to help the people in distress any where in the world especially in their sister city.
We have requested to the Chief Minister to use this fund to assist the rehabilitation the affected men and women who are interested to start their own business like tailor shop by providing them sewing machines or other tools of trade to have their own business. We believe in the principle “You feed a man fish, you will feed him for a day but if you teach him fishing we will feed him for a lifetime”.
